Gymnastics Posts Season Highs Across the Board

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team hosted their final home meet of the season on Friday. The Blugolds celebrate Alumni and Senior night as Hamline University, UW-Whitewater, and Winona State (Minn.) were in town for a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Quadrangular. UW-Eau Claire continued their momentum at home and posted their highest score of the season (185.225) and finished in third place.

Results

With over 96 entries through the four events, the Blugolds set records for their team and individually to make it a night to remember. As a team, UWEC posted season best team scores on all the events.

On the vault, Andrea Gessner (Sr. – Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial) placed 8th with a 9.375 and Harriet Toth was close behind with a 9.350 and a 9th place finish. Toth followed her good start up with the only Blugold score in the top-10 on the bars with a 9.075. On the beam, Tia Ravara (So. – San Leandro, CA/Bishop O'Dowd) tied for 5th with a 9.550 and Christina Leikam (Jr. – Aurora, CO/Cherokee Trail) slotted into 8th with a 9.450.

The last event of the evening was the best for Eau Claire as they tallied the second highest team score (47.100) on the floor between the four squads. Andrea O'Connell (Fr. – Blue Mounds, WI/Mount Horeb) finished in 4th with a 9.575, Emma Barry (Jr. – Allen Park, MI) placed 6th with a 9.525, and Bailey Davidson (Sr. – Eagan, MN/Eastview) recorded a career best 9.475 and placed 10th.

The Blugolds will enjoy the rest of the weekend off and head back to a familiar venue next week. They will travel to UW-La Crosse on Friday, February 25th for a WIAC Triangular between the Blugolds, the UWL Eagles, and WSU. The final regular season meet of the year is set to begin at 6:30PM.
