BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (Blugolds.com) – The Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) announced the Academic All-American list last Thursday. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's gymnastics team had four athletes receive the award.
Ashley Benes (Sr.-Grand Rapids, MN), Kaitlyn Trunkel (Sr.-Colfax, WI/Menomonie), Andrea Gessner (Sr.-Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial), and Victoria Perron (Sr.-Inver Grove Heights, MN/Simley) all received the honors for the Blugolds.
56 student-athletes from the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) were honored for their hard work in the classroom and in the gym as they earned All-America in Academics honors.
The All-America in Academics Award is presented to each gymnast who maintains a 3.0 overall grade point average (GPA) and whose name appears on the team's NCGA squad list for the current year. Each nominee must qualify as a senior student academically and be in her last year of athletic eligibility.
