Women's Golf Places First; Meade Crowned Individual Champion at Falcon Invitational

PRESCOTT, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's golf team completed day two of the Falcon Invitational hosted by UW-River Falls. After posting a 27-stroke lead in round one, the Blugolds were crowned invite champions with a score of 668 (+92) strokes. Lexi Meade (Jr. – Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) earned individual champion honors leading the field with a 156 (+12) over the two rounds.

Results

Five UW-Eau Claire golfers earned a spot in the top 10 of the invitational's leaderboard. With Meade taking the first overall spot and being the only golfer under 80 all weekend, Jaden Woiwode (Fr. – River Falls, WI) was not far behind and continued her stellar rookie year with a 4th place finish and 170 strokes (+26). Following Woiwode was Megan Glaeser (Sr. – Freedom, WI/Fox Valley Lutheran) who tied for fifth shooting +28 over par and 172 strokes.

Jenna Wiebke (Fr. – Caledonia, MN) and Holly Carlson (So. – Ellsworth, WI) also slotted into the top 10. Wiebke earned 7th place with 173 (+29) strokes and Carlson was one shot back in 8th place with 174 (+30) strokes.

The Blugolds will take the week to prepare for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship next weekend, Friday, October 8th – Sunday, October 10th. The reigning individual conference champion, Lexi Meade, and team will travel to Reedsburg Country Club for the three-day tournament. A shotgun start at 11:30 AM on Friday will start the tournament off in Reedsburg, WI.
