DESTIN, Fla. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire women's golfer Catherine Wagner (Sr.-Austin, Minn.) capped off an impressive collegiate career Friday, taking sixth place at the 2013 NCAA Division III Championship at the Baytowne Golf Course at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.
Wagner moved up throughout the championship, which began Tuesday. After being tied for 23rd following day one, she steadily improved to finish in sixth place.
As a freshman, Wagner tied for 14th and improved to ninth place her sophomore season before winning the individual national title her junior season.
In Florida this week, Wagner recorded 80 strokes on day one, followed by 79 on day two and 75 on day three. She finished the event with 77 on the final day to record 311 overall.
Wagner completes her career as a three-time All-American.

DESTIN, Fla. (Blugolds.com) – After getting off to a slow start at the 2013 NCAA Division III Championship, UW-Eau Claire women's golfer Catherine Wagner (Austin, Minn.) moved up from being tied for 20th to being tied for ninth after three rounds of competition.
Wagner finished with 80 strokes on day one, 79 on day two and 75 on day three for a three-day total of 234. The defending national champion will have one day to improve her score as the championship concludes tomorrow.
Wagner is set to tee off at 1 p.m. for Friday's final round.

DESTIN, Fla. (Blugolds.com) – After round two of the 2013 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship, Catherine Wagner (Sr.-Austin, Minn.) is now tied for 20th place at the Baytowne Golf Course at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.
After round one, Wagner was tied for 23rd after recording 80 strokes but moved up today after shooting 79. She now has 159 strokes. Laura Lindsey from the University of Texas at Tyler maintained her lead after recording 72 strokes in each of the first two rounds for a two-day total of 144.
The championship consists of four rounds and Wagner will tee off at 12:50 p.m. Thursday for the third round of the tournament.

Wagner Selected to NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire women's golfer and defending national champion Catherine Wagner (Sr.-Austin, Minn.) has been selected to compete in the 2013 NCAA Division III Championship, which will be conducted May 14-17 at the Baytowne Golf Course at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin, Florida, NCAA officials announced today.
This will be Wagner's fourth straight year competing at nationals. Last season she earned medalist honors by edging Emily Bachert of Centre, Molly Erickson of St. Olaf and Sarah Paulson of Central by one shot. She became the first Blugold in program history to win the individual national title, which helped lead the team to a third place finish.
Wagner steadily improved at nationals each season during her career, tying for 14th her freshman year while tying for ninth her sophomore season before winning the title last year. She earned NGCA Freshman of the Year honors in 2010 and is a two-time first team All-American.
This season, Wagner finished in the top 10 at five different tournaments, including four top-five finishes and one victory. She averaged 79.6 strokes per round, tying for a team best. Last fall at the WIAC Championship, Wagner was runner-up on her way to earning first team All-WIAC honors for the fourth time in her career.
This is the 13th straight year the Blugolds will be represented at the NCAA Division III Championship. The tournament consists of 72 holes of play over the four days of competition.
