MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Emily Swift (Sr.-Onalaska, Wis.) has been selected the 2011 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Judy Kruckman Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete.
A senior from Onalaska, Wis., Swift is majoring in marketing with an analytics emphasis and carries a 3.71 grade point average. She is a three-time National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-Academic selection and has earned WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll distinction three years. Swift has been named to UW-Eau Claire's Dean's List six semesters.
A team co-captain, Swift is a two-time NGCA All-Central Region selection and secured All-WIAC first team honors in 2009 and 2010 after receiving second team accolades in 2008. She has competed in the NCAA Division III Championship the past three years and led the conference in scoring a season ago.
Swift is a member of the American Marketing Association and has served as a volunteer at the Humane Society. She also tutors elementary school children two times a week.
Also nominated for this year's award was UW-River Falls' Mackenzie Casey (Sr., River Falls, Wis.).
The WIAC Scholar-Athlete Award is named after Judy Kruckman who served as Assistant Commissioner for the WIAC from 1996-98. Prior to this appointment, she functioned as Commissioner of the Wisconsin Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Conference from October, 1984 - September, 1996.
In order to be nominated for the scholar-athlete award, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.50 grade point average. In addition, she must be in her last year of competition, or on schedule to graduate this academic year, and have competed for a minimum of two years.
