Women's Golf in First After Round One of WIAC Championship

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team holds a 19-stroke lead after round one of the 2011 WIAC Championship at Bull's Eye Country Club.

The Blugolds, who are going for their third straight WIAC title, finished with a total of 328 strokes through the first 18 holes. UW-Stevens Point is in second with 347 and UW-Whitewater is in third with 356.

Five Blugold golfers finished tied for seventh or better with Catherine Wagner (Jr.-Austin, Minn.) leading the way. She shot an 80 on the par 72 course.

Stevens Point's Mary Welch leads the field of 54 golfers with 79 strokes.

Tomorrow golfers will be on the course beginning at 10 a.m. for round two of the three-day championship.
