EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team is in second place out of 22 teams after the first round of the 2011 Doug Georgianni Memorial Invitational at Mill Run Golf Course.
The Blugolds are just two strokes behind the leader, Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.). Gustavus has 318 strokes while Eau Claire has 320. Carleton College (Minn.) is in third with 326.
Leading the 122-golfer field is UW-Stevens Point's Mary Welch with 73 strokes.
Maggie Lattery (Sr.-Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern) had the best score for the Blugolds as she shot 78. She is currently tied for fifth place. Two other Blugolds are tied for 11th place.
Tomorrow the teams will finish with 18 holes at Wild Ridge Golf Course.
