STEVENS POINT, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's basketball team were on the road for their final regular season game of the season on Saturday as they traveled to UW-Stevens Point. Despite Jessie Ruden (Jr. – Rochester, MN/John Marshall) eclipsing the 20-point mark for the tenth time this season, the Blugolds found themselves in foul trouble and fell to the Pointers, 69-55.

Box Score

The first half was an unnatural one for the Blugolds as they were outscored 35-28 by the Pointers. Their only lead came in the first quarter at the 6:21 mark when UWEC went up by one after Kylie Mogen (So. – Menomonie, WI) knocked down one free throw for the first point of the game. A team total shooting percentage of 38% wasn't enough as UWEC trailed by seven at halftime.

Jessie Ruden exploded in the third quarter, scoring 11 of her 23 total points in the third frame. Both teams were even at the glass in the third quarter with ten rebounds each, but UWSP just edged out Eau Claire in rebounds by grabbing 40 of the 77 boards.

Kylie Mogen and Ellie Clayton (Sr. – Lakeville, MN/Farmington) helped UWEC from the bench with a combined 16 points compared to Stevens Point's 7 bench points.

A tough fourth quarter for UWEC found them shooting at just 20% as they were unable to complete a comeback.

The Blugolds (17-7, WIAC 8-5) will return home for their final regular season game on Wednesday, February 16th. UWEC will celebrate senior night as they host the UW-Platteville Pioneers at 7PM.
