Eight Blugolds Receive USTFCCCA All-Region Recognition

NEW ORLEANS (blugolds.com) – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has named the All-Region honorees for the 2021 NCAA Division III Cross Country season on Monday by the following Regional Championships Saturday. A total of eight Blugold athletes received honors for the success during the 2021 season.

For the men, Connor Dolan (Sr. – Nekoosa, WI/Assumption), Brett Haffner (Sr. – Darien, IL/Hinsdale South), and Tyler Osen (Jr. – Lakeville, MN/North) all earned the All-Region honors. The men's squad wrapped up the NCAA Regional weekend with a fourth-place finish on Saturday and received an at-large bid to the 2021 NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championship Race on Saturday, November 20th in Louisville, KY. Before the NCAA Regional, the Blugolds took 4th at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship meet and never placed outside of the top-5 in any race they participated in this year.

On the women's side, five females received All-Region recognition. Morgan Dahl (So. – Shoreview, MN/Mounds View), Emma Drangstveit (Sr. – Lakeville, MN/North), Katie Faris (Sr. – Chippewa Falls, WI), Naomi Long (Sr. – Medina, MN/Wayzata), and Carolyn Shult (Jr. – Augusta, WI) all raced successfully in the 2021 season. The previous weekend, UWEC were runners-up in the NCAA Regional as Shult finished 5th and Faris 11th to propel the Blugolds to an at-large bid for the 2021 NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championship Race on Saturday, November 20th in Louisville, KY. With another 2nd place finish at the WIAC Championships a week prior, the women's squad never placed outside of the top-3 all year.

By earning the two at-large bids, both squads will prepare for a trip down south later this week. The NCAA National Championship meet will be held in Louisville, Kentucky at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park on Saturday, November 20th. The men's race will begin at 10 AM CST and the women at 11 AM CST.
