2021 Athletes & Coaches of the Year | 2021 NCAA Outstanding Performers

Weaver starred at the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, becoming the only man in meet history to win both the decathlon and javelin in the same year. It was in the decathlon where he put up 7510 points for the third-best total in NCAA DIII history. Then, Weaver doubled back to win the javelin on his final throw of the evening, a 67.68m (222-1) heave that was the longest throw of the season at the NCAA DIII level. Earlier in the season, Weaver amassed 7213 points in the decathlon for another all-time top-10 effort.

Each year, the USTFCCCA honors the Outstanding Performers of the Meet at the NCAA DIII Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Winners are determined using a formula that adds together team points scored, plus meet records (five additional points), Division III seasonal bests (three additional points) and facility records (one point). Relay points, if applicable, are split equally among the four team members.

Weaver, the Most Outstanding Men's Field Performer, put up 26 points using the formula. Not only did he become the only man in meet history to win both the decathlon and javelin in the same year, he also did so with seasonal best marks in both the decathlon (7510) and javelin (67.68m/222-0).
