GREENSBORO, NC (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's track & field teams completed the final day of the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship with a second-place team finish for the men and a 10th place finish for the women. The Blugolds added 14 All-Americans on the final day for a final total of 21 athletes receiving the prestigious honor.
After an exciting day from the multi athletes, UW-Eau Claire turned to the team scores and the track for the finale of the NCAA Championships.
The 4x100 teams got things rolling with top-5 finishes in both relays. The men, Arik Skifstad (Jr. – Eau Claire, WI/North), EJ Kruse (Fr. – Appleton, WI/Kimberly), Stefan Klechefski (Fr. – Roberts, WI/River Falls), and Hunter Henk (Sr. – Beldenville, WI/River Falls), placed fifth with a time of 41.02. The women, Megan Best - (So. - Oshkosh, WI/West), Kady Kochendorfer – (Jr. – Hudson, WI), Gianna Kornaus – (Fr. – Oneida, WI/Pulaski), and Logan Fahey – (Sr. – Belleville, WI), finished at the 46.97 mark, good enough for fourth-place.
The men's 4x400 relay team secured the second place team finish with their time of 3:13. Henk, Skifstad, Jordan Lijewski (Jr. – Roseville, MN), and Kevin Eisenzimmer (So. – Mineral Point, WI) secured four points to push the team into second over UW-Oshkosh.
Kochendorfer continued her success in the triple jump and placed in third. Her furthest distance of 12.29m was a career best.
Thomas Jensen (Sr. – Edina, MN) finished in 7th place in the men's hammer throw to earn his own All-American award.
The Blugolds complete their season with 21 All-Americans and two squads finishing in the top-15 in the nation. The mena finished with 49 points and the women finished with 23 points.
