Track & Field Wraps Up WIAC Championships

RIVER FALLS, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's outdoor track & field teams was back at UW-River Falls for day 2 of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships. The men finish the conference championship in fourth place with 110.5 points. The women took second with 164.5 points.

Final Results

Abrahm Schroedl (Sr. – De Forest, WI) continued his decathlon success from Friday into Saturday acquiring 6942 points, a personal best, naming him the conference champion. Schroedl took home first place in the discus with a personal best 44.83m, a top distance of 6.95 in the long jump, and a champion finish in the high jump. He also earned a third-place finishes in the 100m dash and the shot put.

The women's 4X100 team of Megan Best (So. - Oshkosh, WI/West), Kady Kochendorfer, Giana Kornaus (Fr. - Pulaski, WI), Logan Fahey (Sr. - Belleville, WI) ran a relay best 47.28 and earned a first-place finish. Evan Weber (Holmen, WI/Aquinas), EJ Kruse (Fr. – Appleton, WI/Kimberly), Stefan Klechefski (Fr. – Roberts, WI/River Falls), and Hunter Henk (Sr. – Beldenville, WI/River Falls) finished with a time at 41.95 and took third overall.

In the 1500m races, Carolyn Shult (So. - Augusta, WI) tied her season best with a time of 4:43.37 earning her a third place finish. Tyler Osen (So. – Lakeville, MN/North) also secured a third place finish with a personal record 3:55.70.

Glory Hecker (Sr. – Stone Lake, WI/Hayward Center), Giana Kornaus, Cassidy Eiers (Jr. - Glendale, WI/Nicolet), and Megan Wallace (Sr. – Burlington, WI) took home a second place finish in the 4x400m relay, running a time of 1:59.39. Hunter Henk (Sr. – Beldenville, WI/River Falls), Arik Skifstad, Jordan Lijewski (Jr. – Roseville, MN), and Kevin Eisenzimmer (So. – Mineral Point, WI) also finished their 4x400m relay in second place.

In the field events, Kady Kochendorfer took home first place honors in the triple jump with a distance of 11.61. Gabby Hicks (Jr. - Oakdale, MN/Tartan) placed second in the discus with a personal record of 46.47. TJ Lui (Sr. – Dousman, WI/Kettle Moraine) recorded a triple jump distance of 14.62 and took third place.

On the track, Megan Wallace continued her weekend success with a second-place finish in the 100m hurdles. Her time of 14.22 is a personal best for the season. Anna Schueth (So. – Hartland, WI/Arrowhead) ran the third fastest time at in the 800m at 2:14.84. Bailey Waldhauser (Sr. – Loyal, WI) also took home a first-place finish in the high jump with a height of 1.69. Katie Faris (Jr. – Chippewa Falls, WI/Chi-Hi) secured conference champions status in the 5000m with a personal best time of 17:39.68.

With the conclusion of WIAC competition, the Blugolds will turn their attention to the Last Chance Meet hosted by UW-La Crosse. Meet 1 will take place on Friday, May 14th and meet 2 will be on Thursday, May 20th.
