Three Blugolds win events on Day 1 of WIAC Championships

OSHKOSH, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire track and field teams won three events on the first day of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic conference (WIAC) Championship (presented by Culver's) on Friday.

Kyler Lueck (Sr. – Germantown, WI/Wisconsin Lutheran) recorded the first win of the day for the Blugolds, clocking in at 4:10.03 to win the mile run while KJ Munn (Sr. – Bayport, MN/St. Croix Prep) claimed the top spot in the 400m with a time of 49.22.

In addition, Brett Haffner (So. – Darien, IL/Hinsdale South) was the runner-up in the 5,000m, finishing with a time of 14:48.45 while the distance medley relay team of Will Ullrich (So. – Oconomowoc, WI), Dietrich Schwoerer (So. – McFarland, WI) , Tyler Tomich (Jr. – South Elgin, IL/St. Charles North) and Tyler Osen (Fr. – Lakeville, MN/North) was third (10:31.36).

For the women, Bailey Waldhauser (Jr. – Loyal, WI) won the high jump, recording a height of 1.68m while teammate Jillian Moss (Jr. – Fitchburg, WI/Oregon) was third (1.63m) in the event.

Also finishing in the top three on the day was Karli Olsen (Jr. – Blue Earth, MN) who was third in the 400m with a time of 58.95 and Katie Faris (So. – Chippewa Falls, WI/Chi-Hi) who was third in the 5,000m with time of 18.09.48. The distance medley relay team of Anna Schueth (Fr. – Hartland, WI/Arrowhead), Alaina Syverson (Jr. – River Falls, WI), Laura Pedelty (Fr. – Chatfield, MN/Stewartville) and Lizzy Cisewski (Jr. – Stevens Point, WI/Pacelli) was third with a time of 12:29.63.

As a team, the Blugold men are in third place with 53.66 points while the women are second with 70.50 points.

The Blugolds will compete in the final day of the meet on Saturday at UW-Oshkosh's Kolf Sports Center.
