Seven Blugolds Advance to NCAA Championships

EAU CLAIRE, WI (blugolds.com) The Blugold men's and women's Swimming and Diving team wrapped up competition at the WIAC Championships February 16th-19th where both men and women placed second. The season isn't quite over for 7 Blugold athletes who qualified for the NCAA Championships March 16th-19th at the IUPUI Natatorium.

UW-Eau Claire had a record breaking 2021-22 season. Overall, the Blugolds broke 14 school records and 6 conference records. Ten of these records were broken at the WIAC Championships. Not only did the team perform, but there were outstanding individual performances as well. Quincy Kabe (So.- Buffalo, MN) and Sarah Dahlk (Sr.- Verona WI/Middleton) won the Men's and Women's Diver of the Year. Michael Bylander (Jr.- Baxter, MN/Brainerd) was awarded the Men's Swimmer of the Year with his stellar conference performance, and Bylander was the recipient of the Max Sparger Scholar-Athlete Award.

Women's Coach of the Year was awarded to the Blugolds own Annie Ryder in her eighth season. Ryder has been named Coach of the Year in 2016, 2018, 2019, and now 2022.

UW-Eau Claire has seven athletes competing at the NCAA Championships:

Hans Hover (Sr.-Shakopee, MN): 100 Fly, 100 Back, 200 Back, 200-Medley Relay, and the 400-Medley relay

Ian Olson (So.- Chippewa Falls, WI): 100 Beast, 200 Breast, 200-Medley Relay, and 400-Medley Relay

Sam Ryf (Jr.- Berlin, WI): 200 Free, 200 Fly, and 400-Medley Relay.

Michael Bylander (Sr. Baxter, MN/Brainerd): 200 IM, 100 Breast, 200 Breast, 200-Medley Relay and 400-Medley relay

Alex Jorgenson (So.- Winona, MN): 200-Medley Relay

Ella Weaver (So.- McFarland, WI): 100 Breast, and 200 breast

Sarah Dahlk (Sr.- Verona, WI/Middleton): Diving
