Record Breaking Start for Blugolds at WIAC Championship

BROWN DEER, WI (blugolds.com) The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming and diving teams traveled to Brown Deer, Wisconsin this week to compete at the WIAC Championships. After Day 2 the women sit in first place with a score of 315 and the men are placed in second with 326 points. 

Day 1 Results 

UW-Eau Claire found great success in the first day of the WIAC Championships. The Blugolds broke school and conference records in the 200 Medley Relay, 800-Free Relay, and the 200-Free. The women also placed second in the 800 Free Relay clocking in at 7:44.46. Three Blugolds placed in the top four in 3 Meter Diving, Martin Kocher (Jr. St.Paul, MN/Johnson) leading in second with a score of 445.55. 

 Day 2 Results

Day 2 of the WIAC Championship held more wins for the Blugolds. There were three first place finishes and four Blugolds placing second in their events. 

Winning Events:

500-Yard Freestyle: Sam Ryf  (Jr.-Berlin, WI) (4:35.02)

200-Yard IM: Michael Bylander (Sr.- Baxter, MN) (1:48.67)

200-Yard freestyle Relay: Sam Ryf, Michael Bylander, Alex Jorgenson (So.-Winona, MN), Ian Olson (So.-Chippewa Falls, WI) (1:22.93)
