Donovan, Wilson, and Holm Collect United Soccer Coaches Awards

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's soccer team has been recognized for multiple awards in just their first season of competition. Nathan Donovan (Fr. – Hazel Green, WI/Wahlert Catholic) has been named United Soccer Coaches 2021 Division III All-Region IX Team as a first team selection. Donovan was also named as one of the two 2021 All-Wisconsin State Team Offensive Players of the Year and First Team All-Wisconsin from the United Soccer Coaches. Evan Wilson (Fr. – Apple Valley, MN Eastview) earned Third Team All-Wisconsin honors and Head Coach Casey Holm was named All-Wisconsin Coach of the Year.

Donovan's first year of collegiate competition was one for the history books as the first year Hazel Green native led the team in points (52), goals (23), game-winning goals (5), and penalty kicks (3 of 3) in the programs first year. His offensive work ranked as one of the top performances in the NCAA as he finished the year in the top-3 for total goals and in the top-5 for points.

Evan Wilson was also named as an All-Wisconsin recipient as he was selected to the honorable mention team. Wilson started 14 of the 19 games on the year and collected four goals and 10 assists as a defending. While playing strong on the backline, Wilson helped the Blugolds average 1.58 goals against per game during their 15-win season.

Coach Holm and his staff earned All-Wisconsin Coach of the Year honors after dominating in the program's inaugural season. With a final regional ranking of 4th in region IX, the 15-4-0 Blugolds made the historic season a memorable one with a team made up of one upperclassman, four sophomores, and 26 first year players.
