Men's Soccer Comes Away with a Victory Playing with only 10-Men

WINONA, Minn. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's soccer team traveled to face off against St. Mary's University in a tough 1-0 Blugold victory.

Nathan Donovan (Fr.- Hazel Green, WI/Wahlert Catholic) tallied the Blugolds first and only goal in the of the game shortly into the first half. Donovan finished the ball sent into the box with his head for the 1-0 lead. He finished the contest with six shots on goal, which led the team. The Blugolds out shot St. Mary's by 9 with a total of 17 shots on goal.

UWEC played with 10-men for 86 minutes of the match after Hayden Boich (Fr. - Cottage Park, MN/Park) was assessed a red card in the 4th minute.

Goalie, Spencer Banks (Fr. - Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) only has one to keep the Blugolds in the lead thanks to the strong Blugold defense. Will Heinen (Fr.- Champlin, MN) and Carter Theiesfeld (Fr. – Forest Lake, MN) had the lone assist of the match. Eau Claire moves to 14-4 on the season.

The Blugolds are on the road for their last match up of the season against UW-Platteville on Saturday, November 6th with a 1:00 PM kickoff.
