Men's Soccer Takes Control on the Road with 4-0 Win

APPLETON, Wis. (blugold.com) – The University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire men's soccer team traveled to Lawrence University on Tuesday for an evening matchup. Eau Claire would bounce back and earn a 4 to 0 victory.

In the first half the Blugolds would come out with an aggressive attack on the Vikings. Only six minutes into the half Carter Thiesfeld (Fr.- Forest Lake, MN/Forest Lake) would find the feet of Nathan Donovan (Fr. - Hazel Green, WI/Wahlert Catholic) for the early 1 to 0 lead. The Eau Claire men would continue their attack on Lawrence and would end the half with the lead.

In the second half, Eau Claire would maintain possession right off the kickoff. Donovan would find Porter Ball (So.-Minneapolis, MN/Academy of Holy Angels) for the Blugolds second goal of the nigh in the 58th minute. Ball would find his second goal of the night in the matter of minutes with an assist from Will Heinen (Fr.- Champlin, MN/Champlin), quickly adding a third goal to Eau Claire's rising lead in the 62nd minute. The scoring wouldn't end there for the Blugolds, as Jacob Sampson (Fr.-McFarland, WI/McFarland) would pass the ball to Donovan for the Blugolds 4thuncontested goal in 67th minute. Donovan now has 15 goals on the season, leading the team in goals.

Spencer Banks (Fr.-Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) would be created with the win with his clean slate in the back, earning Eau Claire only their second shutout of the season.
