Vroman leads Blugolds in 4-1 win over Stout

MENOMONIE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Despite giving up the first goal, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team would storm back for a 4-1 win over I-94 rival UW-Stout on Friday night.

The Blue Devils scored their only goal of the night midway through the first, but the Blugolds quickly responded with the equalizer at 12:43 thanks to a Jarrad Vroman (Sr. – Lincoln Park, MI/St. Francis Cabrini) goal with an assist from Peter Jacobs (Fr. – Carlsbad, CA/Lewis Palmer).

Eau Claire would have six first period shots to Stout's 10, but the Blugolds would put on the pressure in the remaining periods.

In the second, the Eau Claire defense held Stout to just one shot on goal while firing 14 of their own. Ty Readman (Sr. – Edmonton, Alberta/Vimy Ridge Academy) would find the back of the net at 2:43 thanks to assists from Vroman and Jon Richards (Sr. – Callaway, MN/Detroit Lakes).

The Blugolds kept the pressure on in the third, out-shooting the Blue Devils 17-7. Jacobs and Vroman would connect again, this time it was Jacobs with the empty net goal at 18:16. Ryan Green (So. – Muskego, WI) would seal the win with an unassisted goal at 19:17 and give Eau Claire their eighth win of the season.

Vroman finished the night with one goal and two assists to lead Eau Claire while netminder Ryan Ouellette (Fr. – Colorado Springs, CO/Liberty) recorded 18 saves and improves to 7-6-0 on the season.

The Blugolds (8-11-0, 4-6-0 WIAC) will head back to Menomonie on Saturday for another 7 p.m. matchup with the Blue Devils.
