Men's Hockey bounces back with 4-1 win over Superior

SUPERIOR, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey faced UW-Superior for the second time in as many days on Saturday night, this time avenging Friday night's loss with a 4-1 victory.

The Blugolds got on the board first with a Willy Stauber (So. – Duluth, MN/Marshall) goal at 11:34 in the first off an assist from Derek Hammer (Sr. – Woodbury, MN/East Ridge).

In the second, Ryan Green (So. – Muskego, WI) would tally the second goal for Eau Claire with an assist from Stauber a minute into the period and Blake Kryska (So. – Grand Blanc, MI) followed with a goal at 7:47 to give the visiting Blugolds a 3-0 lead. Jon Richards (Sr. – Callaway, MN/Detroit Lakes) and Connor Szmul (So. – Castle Rock, CO/Castle View) earned assists on the Kryska goal.

In the third, Superior tallied a goal of their own but Szmul responded with an unassisted goal at 14:24 to seal the win.

Netminder Ryan Ouellette (Fr. – Colorado Springs, CO/Liberty) recorded 24 saves in the win and improves to 6-5-0 on the season.

The Blugolds (7-11-0, 3-6-0 WIAC) will again be on the road next weekend, this time traveling to Menomonie for 7 p.m. games on Friday and Saturday against UW-Stout.
