EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – After a 3-2 win on Friday night, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team earned another win over Concordia-Moorhead on Saturday, this time a shut-out over the Cobbers. The Blugolds were led by Ryan Green (So. – Muskego, WI), who not only scored his first collegiate goal, but also had two assists on the night as the Blugolds earned a 4-0 victory.
After a scoreless first, the Blugolds would score at 9:06 and 16:00 in the second to take a 2-0 lead.
The first goal would come from Sammy Martel (So. – Bolingbrook, IL/Neuqua Valley) with an assist from Green, who would tally another assist on the second goal as Connor Koviak (Sr. – Canton, MI/Plymouth) found the back of the net. Willy Stauber (So. – Duluth, MN/Marshall) would be credited for the second assist on the goal.
In the third, Green and Martel would connect again, this time for Green's first goal as a Blugold, coming at the 11:09 mark of the period.
The Blugolds would seal with win with a late powerplay goal coming from Jordan Randall (Fr. – Maple Grove, MN) with assists from Austin Becker (Fr. – Amery, WI) and Jon Richards (Sr. – Callaway, MN/Detroit Lakes).
Eau Claire would out-shoot Moorhead 29-22 on the night and were 1-for-2 on the powerplay.
Ryan Ouellette (Fr. – Colorado Springs, CO/Liberty) earned the win in goal, stopping all 22 shots to claim the shutout and improve to 5-4-0 on the season.
The Blugolds (6-9-0) will be back on the ice Tuesday with another matchup with UW-Stevens Point. Puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m.
