EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team faced off against St. Norbert College on Sunday afternoon, falling to the Green Knights by a score of 6-1.
After a tight game the night before, the Green Knight offense came out firing, scoring two goals in the first period. They would add a third in the second before Dawson Klein (Fr. – Lakeville, MN/South) got Eau Claire on the board with his first goal as a Blugold at 5:03. Connor Szmul (So. – Castle Rock, CO/Castle View) would record the assist on the goal.
St. Norbert came back to score again three minutes later, however, and took a 4-1 advantage into the third period. The Green Knights would tack on two more goals in the third to earn the 6-1 win.
St. Norbert recorded 33 shots to the Blugolds' 19 and were 2-for-4 on the powerplay while Eau Claire was 0-for-1.
Goaltender Ryan Ouellette (Fr. – Colorado Springs, CO/Liberty) tallied 27 saves and falls to 3-3-0 on the season.
The Blugolds (3-6-0, 1-1-0 WIAC) will be back in action on Friday, December 3 when they travel to Ashland, Wis. to take on Northland College.
