EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team fell to UW-Stout on Saturday night, falling by a score of 4-2.
Stout took the lead with a goal in the first period, then quickly added a second early in the second period.
Eau Claire would get on the board at the 1:30 mark of the second with a goal by Kyle Oleksiuk (Fr. – Winnipeg, Manitoba), getting assists from Simon Sagissor (Sr. – Stillwater, MN) and Colin Stein (Fr. – Pewaukee, WI/Catholic Memorial).
Eight minutes later the Blugolds would tie it up with an Andrew McGlynn (Sr. – St. Louis, MO/Christian Brothers College) goal thanks to assists from Derek Hammer (Sr. – Woodbury, MN/East Ridge) and Tyler Love (Jr. - Pittsburgh, PA/Moon Area).
The game remained tied at 2 heading into the third, but the Blue Devils would reclaim the lead at the 4:34 mark and add another goal at 5:59 to secure the win.
Eau Claire out-shot Stout 26-23 with the Blugolds going 0 for 2 on the powerplay and held the Blue Devils to 0 for 3.
In goal, Ryan Ouellette (Fr. – Colorado Springs, CO/Liberty) recorded 19 saves and falls to 3-2-0 on the season.
The Blugolds (3-4-0, 1-1-0 WIAC) will return to Hobbs Saturday as they host St. Norbert College at 7 p.m.
