ROCK ISLAND, IL. (blugolds.com) The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's golf team traveled to Highland Springs Golf Course in Rock Island Illinois for the Augustana Invitational this weekend. The Blugolds took 2nd place out of 25 teams with an overall score of 592 after two rounds.
UW-Eau Claire had a solid first round with a team score of 292. Nick Amtmann (Fr.-Nashotah,WI /Arrowhead) led the Blugolds scoring 68 in the first round and 147 total. Cole Jahnke (Sr.-Stillwater, MN) and Connor Brown (Jr.-Racine, WI/Union) weren't far behind both scoring 148 overall. Eau Claire had five players finish in the top 25 for their overall scores.
The Blugolds lead the tournament for Par 3s averaging 3.28 with a score of +11. Eau Claire stayed in the top five for Par 4s (4.20/+20) and Par 5s (4.98/-1). As a team Eau Claire had a total of 114 pars, 19 birdies, and one eagle. Connor Brown and Matt Fladten (Sr.-Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) placed in the top 10 for par 3.s with an average of 3.13 with a score of +1.
