Men's Golf Places 2nd at the Country Club Classic

DECATUR, Ill. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's golf team competed in the Country Club Classic on Sunday and Monday in Decatur, IL. After the latter half of round one was postponed due to rain, the Blugolds were led by Corey Boerner (So. – Bloomington, MN/Kennedy) and took second place out of seven teams.

Results

Boerner finished the day with a 68 in round one and a 75 in round two putting him ninth overall on the leaderboard. Close behind, Cole Jahnke (Sr. – Stillwater, MN) tied for tenth with a two-round total of 144. Three Blugolds, Nick Amtmann (Fr. – Nashotah, WI/Arrowhead), Fred Moede (Fr. – Prior Lake, MN/Savage), and Sean Murphy (Jr. – Middleton, WI/Waunakee) tied for 16th with scores of 149 strokes.

Boerner was one shot over par when it came to par 3 scoring. Jahnke, Boerner, and Amtmann each finished with one eagle a piece, while Jahnke finished third in total pars.

The Blugolds will hit the road on Wednesday, September 22nd when they take on St. Olaf (MN) in Northfield, MN. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 PM.
