Blugolds Finish 3rd and 12th at the Twin Cities Classic

WAYZATA, Minn. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's golf team completed the final round of the 2021 Twin Cities Classic at the Wayzata Country Club on Monday. As a team, the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds took 3rd and 12th out of 21 teams.

Results

The 3rd place UWEC team finish was just 21 strokes off from the team champions, Saint John's (MN). The 12th place UWEC team finished at 938 strokes, which was 50 strokes back.

Cole Jahnke (Sr. - Stillwater, MN) led the way for Eau Claire by shooting just six over par (+6) through three rounds of golf. Jahnke finished the meet tied for fifth place after his three round scores of 71, 75, and 76. The Meet champion was Glavine Schugel from Saint John's (MN) who shot one under par after playing the three courses.

Nick Amtmann (Fr. - Nashotah, WI/Arrowhead) and Corey Boerner (So. - Bloomington, MN/Kennedy) both tied for 16th place with scores totaling 228 strokes and finished 12 over par. Boerner was the third best in par 4 scoring by gaining only two extra strokes through the three rounds.

Amtmann finished tied for the second most birdies on the weekend with 10. Owen Covey (Fr. - New Richmond, WI) also tallied 10 birdies but finished tied for 34th.

Mason Gardner (Sr. - Waupaca, WI) shot a stellar 71 in round one and finished the weekend tied for 20th place with round scores of 71, 81, and 78.

The Blugolds will be back on the road next weekend, October 3rd, and 4th to participate in the Country Club Classic hosted by Millikin University. Round one from the South Side Country Club in Decatur, IL begins at 1 PM on Saturday.
