Men's Golf Takes 6th to Open Season

MAPLE PLAIN, Minn. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's golf team played in their first tournament of the year this weekend. The Blugolds traveled to Minnesota and took part in the Minnesota Golf Classic, hosted by Bethel University. Cole Jahnke (Sr. – Stillwater, MN) led the Blugolds shooting +4 (220) over par as he finished tied for 26th place.

Results

Fred Moede (Fr, - Prior Lake, MN) was the next highest finisher for Eau Claire in his first collegiate action. Moede tallied two more shots than Jahnke for a tie at 32nd place. The team overall shot 899, which was just 28 strokes off from the leaders, St. John's (MN).

The Blugolds will have a busy weekend ahead of them as the team splits up for two tournaments. One half will travel to Howey-in-the-Hills, FL for the NCAA Division III Championship Fall Preview, hosted by Oglethorpe University. The other golfers will stay in Eau Claire and host the annual Frank Wrigglesworth tournament at the Eau Claire Golf and Country Club. Tee times have yet to be announced.
