Men's Basketball Earns NABC Team Excellence Award and Five Named to NABC Honor Court

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (blugolds.com) – The NABC on Tuesday announced the recipients of the 2021-22 NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards and NABC Honors Court, representing outstanding achievement in the classroom by collegiate men's basketball teams and student-athletes. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's basketball team earned their seventh team award in the past nine years with a cumulative team GPA of 3.096 and had five members earn their spot on the NABC Honors Court.

Five Blugolds were also named to the NABC Honors Court rewarding them for their hard work in the classroom. Nathan Banasik (Sr. - Prairie Du Chien, WI), Nate Hau (Jr. - Eau Claire, WI/Memorial), Spencer Page (Sr. - Rice Lake, WI), Alex Voigt (Jr. - Sun Prairie, WI), and Brock Voigt (Jr. - Sun Prairie, WI) all earned the educational excellence honors after their hard work in their areas of study during the 2021-22 season. 

The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize men's basketball programs that completed the 2021-22 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2021-22 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.

The NABC's academic awards include honorees from all levels of college basketball. "Academic success is a core value of the NABC and a priority shared by men's basketball programs across the country," said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. "Excellence in the classroom requires hard work and dedication, and the NABC considers it a privilege to honor these deserving student-athletes and the coaches and staff who support them." Over 2,000 players earned spots on the NABC Honors Court and over 300 programs received NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards for 2021-22.
