Men's Basketball Uses Balanced Scoring to Defend Zorn Against Yellowjackets

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's basketball team was back in Zorn Arena for another nonconference matchup on Tuesday as they hosted UW-Superior. With a crowd packed into Zorn to escape the evening snow, the Blugolds spread their offense throughout the night for the 75-66 victory.

In the first half, the Blugolds pushed to an early 16-point lead after a 13-0 run was fueled by successful three-point shooting from beyond the arc. Carter Brooks (Sr. – Lakeville, MN/North) led the home squad in the opening frame with nine points, four defensive rebounds, and four fouls drawn. The UWEC bench was crucial from the get-go as they combined for 16 of the teams 36 points. The six-point lead at halftime was never broken for the rest of the contest.

The second half featured improved shooting from both sides combined for 49% from the floor. Brooks tied his season high with a team high 17 points off nine shots and five free throws taken. Nine different Blugolds tallied points on the evening during the 37:31 Eau Claire lead. Brock Voigt (Sr. – Sun Prairie, WI) led the team with eight rebounds (4 off., 4 def.) and recorded his ninth double-digit point night of the season with 15.

The Blugolds continue nonconference play before the break with as they travel to Waverly, IA on Thursday, December 9th. UWEC will face the Wartburg College Nights at 7PM.
