OSHKOSH, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's basketball team took to the road on Wednesday as they started Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play against the No. 11 ranked UW-Oshkosh Titans at the Kolf Sports Center. Despite sticking with the ranked home squad and matching them in points in the second half, the Blugolds fell to the Titans, 69-60.

Box Score

A steady first half by both teams kept the halftime difference at nine points. Michael Casper (So. - Merrill, WI) started hot with three field goals from beyond the three-point arch and a jumper to tally 11 of his 18 total points in the opening 20 minutes. A team total of nine turnovers were not too costly for the Blugolds as UWO only scored five points off the UWEC takeaways.

In the second half, David Ijadimbola (So. - Brooklyn Park, MN/Park Center) and Eau Claire kept their composure and stayed with the No. 11 ranked team in the nation. As each team went point-for-point in the second frame, the Blugolds were more consistent, shooting for 46.4%. Carter Brooks (Sr. - Lakeville, MN/North) led the team in rebounds with four in the final 20 minutes for a game total of ten (1 off., 9 def.)

The Blugolds (5-3, WIAC 0-1) will have continue WIAC play on Saturday, December 4th when they travel to UW-Stevens Point. A 7PM tipoff between UWEC and UWSP is scheduled from the MCCH Quandt Gym.
