Voigt's Double-Double Propels Eau Claire Over UNW for Third Straight Win

SAINT PAUL, Minn. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's basketball team was back on the court on Tuesday as they traveled to the University of Northwestern-St. Paul for their third contest of the year. After starting the game with a 10-0 lead, the Blugolds would maintain that lead to the final buzzer for their third win in a row, 79-74.

A hot start from UWEC turned into a 10-0 lead after Michael Casper (So. – Merrill, WI) and Nolan Blair (So. – Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) each knocked down shots beyond the three-point arc. The Blugold paint play also contributed to the fast start as UWEC gathered six offensive and 12 defensive rebounds in the first half. Brock Voigt (Jr. – Sun Prairie, WI) tallied ten of his 13 total rebounds in the first half to earn himself his second double-double of the season (20pts, 13reb).

With a ten-point lead at halftime, the Eagles would claw their way back into the game towards the end, but UWEC never wavered their lead as they held the scoring edge for 19:34 of the contest to earn the 79-74 victory.

The Blugolds shot 46.8% from the field in their third win of the season. behind Brock Voight's double-double, Spencer Page (Sr. – Rice Lake, WI) and Michael Casper had 15 points each.

The Blugolds will be back on the road on Friday, November 19th when they travel to Wheaton, IL to participate in the Lee Pfund Classic hosted by Wheaton College. The winner of Friday's matchup will play Nebraska Wesleyan University at 5 PM and will play will winner of Wheaton vs. Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday, November 20th at 7 PM.
