Frantal & Belot earn D3football.com All-Region honors

MINNEAPOLIS (Blugolds.com) – The D3football.com All-Region teams have been announced, with two Blugolds earning recognition; kicker Brady Frantal (Fr. – Appleton, WI/North) earned a spot on the First Team while running back Austin Belot (Sr. – Neenah, WI) was named to the Third Team.

A First Team All-WIAC selection in his first season, Frantal was 10 of 11 on field goal attempts this season and was 29 of 31 for extra points. He was second in NCAA Division III for field goal percentage (91%).

Belot led the WIAC for total rushing yards (1,405) for the second time in his career and also led the WIAC averaging 140.5 yards per game this season, ranking him fifth in the nation in both categories. The senior broke the school record for most yards in a game (364) and finished third in program history in season rushing yards. Belot also recorded the fourth longest rush from scrimmage in program history (84 yards) and finished tenth in career rushing yards (2,586). The senior was also named to the WIAC Second Team.

Belot and Frantal led the Blugolds with 66 and 59 points, respectively, and were key to the Eau Claire offense finishing third in the nation for red zone offense (.933).

This is the first season with six regions. Region 6 includes the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Northwest Conference, Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The teams, selected in balloting by Region 6 sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 165 nominations by full Division III member schools. A total of 76 players were chosen. Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced the evening of Dec. 17, in D3football.com's pregame coverage for Stagg Bowl XLVIII.
