Game 1 Box Score | Game 2 Box Score

The Blugolds opened things up in game one with a three-run first inning. After Nate Witte (Fr.-Woodbury, MN/East Ridge) and Logan Matson (Jr.-Neillsville, WI) both got on base, Jacob Lacy (Jr.-Shawano, WI) singled to right to bring them both in. The other run in the inning came from Anthony Pogodzinski (Fr.-Eau Claire, WI/North), who reached base after being hit by pitch. Pogodzinski was knocked in by Chase Yaeger (Fr.-Black River Falls, WI).

Platteville responded with a big first of their own, putting Eau Claire in a hole. The Blugolds struck back by adding to their run total in the third and fourth innings.

In the third, Pogodzinski singled and later scored off a balk by the Platteville pitcher. The other run would come from Lacy, who scored on a sacrifice fly by Aydan Bernstein (So.-Minneapolis, MN/Washburn). The lone run in the fourth came from Witte, as he scored off a sac fly from Henry Pitsch (Fr.-Madison, WI/West).

The Blugold offense couldn't add anymore after the fourth, coming up short 16-6. Witte finished as their top hitter, with two of their seven hits, as well as two runs. In addition, Witte hit their lone double of the game, and had their lone steal.

Game two began with a Pioneer run in the first, and stuck firm at 1-0 for the first three innings. Platteville would have big fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to build a comfortable lead.

Eau Claire's offense couldn't put pressure on Platteville's defense, with two hits in the game. They would come from David Janssen (Fr.-Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial) and Otto Treichel (So.-Madison, WI/West) but weren't enough to mount any serious comeback attempt.

After six straight games against the Pioneers, the Blugolds will move on to their next opponent, UW-Stevens Point. They'll welcome the Pointers to Carson Park this upcoming Wednesday at 1pm.
