EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire baseball team lost their doubleheader with UW-Stout on Saturday afternoon, 11-3 and 5-4 (10 innings). The series was a continuation of the games earlier in the week that were postponed due to the weather.

The first game was 7-1 in the sixth inning when both teams resumed the game. The lone run came off a single from Anthony Pogodzinski (Fr.-Eau Claire, WI/North) that scored Logan Matson (Jr.-Neillsville, WI).

Eau Claire would add two more in the eighth and ninth innings, but they came up short 11-3.

Matson led the Blugold offense in game one, as he finished with four hits and scored a run. Pogodzinski also finished with a pair of hits along with the RBI.

The Blugolds struck first in game two, as Matson scored Nate Witte (Fr.-Woodbury, MN/East Ridge) in the third inning. Eau Claire would add two more runs an inning later, with Pogodzinski hitting a home run and Johnny Pecora (Fr.-South Barrington, IL, Barrington) doubling to earn the other RBI.

With the score tied at 4 entering the 10th inning, a Stout home run proved to be the difference.

The Blugolds finished game two with ten hits, as four different Blugolds finished with two hits each. Charley Griffin (So.-River Falls, WI) got the start on the mound for Eau Claire, earning five strikeouts in seven innings.

Eau Claire will return to Carson Park next weekend, when they face off against Finlandia University (Mich.) in a four-game series. The first doubleheader will begin at 1 PM on Friday, with the second beginning at the same time on Saturday.
