Four Blugolds Earn WIAC Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Katie Faris (Sr. - Chippewa Falls, WI/Chi-hi), Lindsey Henderson (Sr. - Prior Lake, MN), Elaine Franta (Jr. - White Bear Lake, MN), and Kendra Baierl (Sr. - Marshfield, WI/Columbus Catholic) have been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week, as was announced by Assistant Commissioner of Media Relations Matt Stanek.

Faris finished second out of 198 runners and led the Blugolds to a third-place finish out of 15 teams at the St. Olaf College (Minn.) Invitational on Sept. 18.  She covered the 6,000-meter course in 23:05, which is a 41-second personal best. Faris was the top WIAC finisher in the field of 198 runners. 

Henderson and Franta earned their first dual win of the season at No. 1 doubles with an 8-5 triumph over UW-Whitewater's Autumn Bruno and Cassie Lee. 

Baierl led the Blugolds to a 4-1 record during the week averaging 2.74 kills per set on a blistering .560 hitting percentage. Defensively, she put up 12 total blocks. Baierl was named to the Sandy Schumacher All-Tournament Team.
