Weaver, Wallace, Sivak, and Nelson Earn WIAC Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Marcus Weaver (So. - Lewiston, MN/Lewiston-Altura), Megan Wallace (Sr. - Burlington, WI), Morgan Sivak (Sr. - Oconomowoc, WI), and Morgan Nelson (Fr. - Beaver Dam, WI) have been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week, as was announced by Assistant Commissioner of Media Relations Matt Stanek.

Competing at the UW-La Crosse Ashton May-Phil Esten Meet, Weaver won the decathlon with a score of 7,273, which ranks first in NCAA Division III and the WIAC. It is also the eighth-best performance in NCAA Division III history. He also ranks second in the NCAA and first in the conference with his javelin throw of 207-4 (63.21m). 

Wallace won the heptathlon at the UW-La Crosse Ashton May-Phil Esten Meet with a score of 5,471, which broke the NCAA Division III record of 5,467 in the event by Kim Oden of Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1992. Wallace also is ranked first in NCAA Division III and conference with her long jump mark of 18-11 1/4 (5.77m). 

Sivak picked up two victories during the week to improve to 7-3 on the season. On April 16, Sivak earned a 1-0 complete game shutout over UW-La Crosse, scattering two hits and striking out four. She also received the win in a 6-2 victory at UW-Oshkosh on April 17. For the week, Sivak gave up just two earned runs in 11 innings of work for a 1.27 earned run average, while striking out five. 

Nelson posted a 2-0 singles record in two matches during the week. On April 14, she was one of two Blugolds to earn team points in a 7-2 loss to Bethel University (Minn.). At the No. 5 spot, Nelson took down Sydney Rott in a tiebreaker win, 6-3, 4-6, 10-4. On April 17, Nelson secured her second win over Delaney Osmond of UW-River Falls. She took the victory quickly, winning 6-1, 6-1. Nelson improved to 3-1 in WIAC singles action this season.
