MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire women's hockey forward Courtney Wittig (Green Bay, Wis. / Bay Port) has been named WIAC Athlete of the Week, it was announced today by WIAC Assistant Commissioner of Media Relations Matt Stanek.
Wittig had a strong week for the Blugolds picking up an assist and two goals in two wins. She scored two goals in a 3-1 victory over St. Mary’s University (Minn.) on Nov. 25. Wittig scored her first goal of the game at the two-minute mark in the second period and added her second at the 11:25 mark in the second period. Wittig also added an assist in the Blugolds’ 4-2 triumph over Concordia University-Moorhead (Minn.) on Nov. 21.
The women's hockey team will play four games on the road in the month of December and will return to home to Hobbs Arena after the New Year.
