Jill Millis enters her eighth year as the Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations/Sports Information.

Millis coordinates all publicity and communications for Blugold athletics, including developing and maintaining the athletics website, arranging media interviews with coaches, student athletes and other staff members, promoting home events and fundraisers and developing media/public relations strategies. In addition, she oversees statistics, live statistics of home events while also producing editorial content for athletics publications, coordinating media coverage for home events and training, and managing and supervising student workers and game-day staff.

Millis is no stranger to UW-Eau Claire. Formerly Jill Janke, she was a four-time all-conference and all-region performer for the Blugold softball team where she won a national title her senior season. Millis hit the game-winning, walk-off home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning in the championship game against UW-Whitewater to give the Blugolds their first national title in 2008.

Following her playing career, the Black River Falls native was selected to participate on the ASA Regional All-Star team and played against Team USA in Stevens Point.

Millis served one year as an assistant coach with her alma mater under head coach Leslie Huntington before taking the graduate assistant coaching position at Ithaca College where she coached with Deb Pallozzi, one of the all-time winningest coaches in NCAA Division III history. There she earned a master’s degree in sports management.

After earning her master’s degree, Millis spent the fall of 2010 as the media relations intern at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) writing media releases, feature stories, managing the MIAC website, and creating logos and graphics.

Late in 2010, Millis was hired as the head softball coach at Dakota County Technical College (DCTC). At DCTC, Millis worked to grow a roster of four eligible student-athletes into a program that had 14 new recruits the following season.

Millis comes most recently from UW-Stevens Point where she spent three seasons as the head softball coach in addition to being the assistant sports information director in 2011-2012. From 2012-2013, Millis served as the game management coordinator and in 2014 assisted in NCAA eligibility and compliance.

Millis graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in communication and journalism with a public relations emphasis along with a bachelor’s degree in history.

Millis and her husband, Nick, reside in Eau Claire with their sons, Evander and Sterling, and daughter, Arya.
