Sam Loftsgaarden enters his first season on the Blugold coaching staff in 2019-20.

Loftsgaarden serves as the tight ends coach and is responsible for recruiting. He also assists with the Special Team's Return units.

Prior to coaching at UW-Eau Claire, Loftsgaarden coached at Regis High School (WI) where he was the offensive coordinator for 3 years which included the 2016 WIAA Division 6 State Championship season for the Ramblers. Before beginning his coaching career, he also played in the NCAA Division III playoffs with the College of Saint Scholastica (MN) as a defensive back in 2012.

Loftsgaarden is a Blugold alumnus having earned a bachelor’s degree in International Geography from UW-Eau Claire in 2018.
