Kayla Wetzel is in her first year as a full-time assistant athletic trainer at UW-Eau Claire during the 2020-21 seasons. Kayla served as an athletic trainnig intern at UW-Eau Claire the past two years. Prior to working at UW- Eau Claire, Wetzel graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin in May of 2018 where she received an entry-level Master’s degree in Athletic Training. While at Concordia, she gained experience by working with Indoor Track and Field, Triathlon, and Men’s Volleyball. Wetzel gained additional experience through an internship with ATI Physical Therapy where she was able to work with the Milwaukee Roller Derby, the Wisconsin Hitmen Semi Pro Football Club, and the Bavarian Soccer Club. 

Wetzel is a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association and holds an M1 certification in Graston Technique. Her topics of interest include manual therapy techniques, mental health, and promoting general health and wellness. Her goals for the future include pursuing additional certifications in dry-needling therapy and postural restoration. During her free time, Kayla enjoys drawing, spending time outside, and petting dogs.
