Tyler Leonhard joined the UW-Eau Claire athletics staff as the Assistant Sports Performance and Strength Coach in 2019-20, working with Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Tennis, Swim and Dive, Women’s Soccer, and Gymnastics.

Leonhard, a UW-Eau Claire alum, comes from Concordia University-St. Paul (MN) where he served as the Interim Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. He started as a Graduate Assistant at Concordia-St. Paul in January of 2018 before taking over as Interim Head in May 2019. 

At the college level, Leonhard has previously spent time at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in the spring of 2017 in a Strength and Conditioning Apprenticeship. Leonhard also spent time as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Macalester College (MN) in the fall of 2017. Prior to these experiences Leonhard performed an internship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison working with the Football team.

Leonhard graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a Bachelor of Science, with a Kinesiology focus, and a Minor in Business. He then went on to receive his Master of Science from Concordia University-St. Paul. Prior to graduating Leonhard was a part of the football teams at both the University of Wisconsin-Madison as well University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Outside of the collegiate level, he also served as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Mizuno Northern Lights Junior Volleyball team in Burnsville, MN.

Leonhard is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA, USAW Level I Sports Performance Coach, and holds a Reflexive Performance Reset Level 1 certification.
