WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University track and field teams are back in action on Saturday, as SMU hosts the Saint Mary's Open at the SMU Track and Field Complex.

Aaron Haley (Plainview, Minn.) became the second Cardinal in as many weeks to record a school-record performance last Friday at the UW-La Crosse Phil Esten Challenge, when he stopped the clock in 32:18.83 in the 10,000 to break the old mark of 32:34.04 set by Robby McGuire in 2011. … Katie Stolz (Forest Lake, Minn.) has broken two school records this season — the junior broke her own school record in winning the 3,000 steeplechase with a time of 11:38.10 at the Gustavus Invitational on April 10, while also setting a new school mark in the indoor 5,000 with a time of 18:43.93. … Abi Osborne (Winthrop, Minn.) won the javelin for the second straight week at the St. Norbert Invitational on April 17, uncorking a throw of 39.00 meters. … Osborne also chipped in a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw at the St. Norbert Invitational with a toss of 46.33 meters. … Laura Schommer (Hutchinson, Minn.) had a busy evening in DePere, Wis., placing second in 200 (26.71), third in 100 (12.94), fourth in pole vault (2.90 meters), while Maya Booker (St. Paul, Minn.) was fifth in the hammer (46.17), and Rebecca Krueger (Ashland, Wis.) placed sixth in the 400 (64.67) and eighth in the 200 (27.14). … Jacob Hagen-Erickson (Austin, Minn.) and Gus Wiggert (La Crosse, Wis.) led the way for the SMU men at the St. Norbert Invitational, as Hagen-Erickson placed third in long jump (6.29 meters) and Wiggert matched that with a third-place effort in the hammer (46.50). … Wiggert also tallied a fourth in the shot put (13.11 meters), while Tyler Kircher (Cashton, Wis.) was sixth in the javelin (40.76 meters) and Zach Palma (Washburn, Wis.) was sixth in the triple jump (11.90 meters). … Along with Haley's record-setting effort at the UW-La Crosse Phil Esten Challenge on April 18, John Soucheray (Woodbury, Minn.) added a time of 16:39.67 in the 5,000, while Jovan Newsom (Glendale Heights, Ill.) and Andy Meyer (Tucson, Ariz.) posted times of 4:07.44 and 4:39.69, respectively, in the 1,500.
