MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire softball pitcher Sarah Peka (Chanhassen,Minn./Minnetonka) has been named a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athlete of the Week, WIAC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek announced today.
Peka did not give up an earned run in her two starts against top- 5 ranked teams during the week for the Blugolds. She started and pitched 6.1 innings in a 4-3 loss to No. 3-ranked University of St. Thomas (Minn.). She struck out two in that game. In a 6-0 victory over No. 5-ranked Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Peka earned a complete game shutout and improved to 4-1 on the year. She struck out two, while also contributing to the offense going 2-for-4 with 2 RBI.
