EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire Athletics is excited to announce the launch of the Blugold Booster Club. The club was revealed at a meeting held in Davies Center on October 16, 2014.
“The Blugold Booster Club was created to bring more organization, communication and transparency to Blugolds Athletics’ fundraising efforts,” Director of Athletics Dan Schumacher said.
The mission of the Blugold Booster Club, which has been formed as a non-profit organization and part of the UWEC Foundation, is to provide additional financial resources for Blugold Athletics. These resources will offer teams the enhanced ability to compete for NCAA Division III National Championships and proudly represent our great city and region.
The club consists of an executive committee and a board of directors, with Dan Schumacher serving ex officio on the executive committee. The club will support planned events and appeals to alumni, community and friends of the Athletic Department. Efforts will be directed towards a goal of raising annual financial support for small capital improvement projects and other program needs.
The executive committee includes four officers: President Joe Munger, Vice President Mark Faanes, Treasurer Rick Walker and Secretary Sue Tietz.
“As a lifelong Eau Claire resident, President of the Blugold Booster Club and UW-Eau Claire alum, I’m excited to be a part of where things are headed,” Munger said. “Blugold Athletics has made some big changes and is stepping into a new era of collegiate competition. I look forward to helping increase alumni and community involvement in the entire program.”
