NORTHFIELD, Min. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin Eau Claire cross country women kicked off their first official race of the year in Northfield, Minnesota at the 51st annual St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday, September 17th. The ladies finished 3rd out of 20 teams, with a total of 61 points.
Finishing in the top 15 of the women's 6K was, Carolyn Shult (Sr. - Augusta, WI) at 23:03.8 and a solid 4th place finish. Katie Faris (Sr. - Chippewa Falls, WI) also placed in the top 15 with a time of 23:11.3 and a 6th place finish Naomi Long (Sr. - Medina, MN/Wayzata) slotted in at 8th place with a time of 23:16.2. Rounding out the top 5 for the Blugold ladies was Keeley Behr (Fr. - Aurora, IL/Metea Valley) and Ashley Kachurick (Sr. - Wadsworth IL/ Warren Township).
Overall, the Blugolds used teamwork and pack running to finish the race with 11 women finishing in the top 50.
The Blugolds will be back in action at the UWEC Blugold invite on September 30th, at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax, WI. Race time is set for 4:15PM.
