Women's Cross Country opens season with Alumni Meet

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's cross country team started their season at their own alumni meet 5k race. The Blugolds hosted the meet at the City Wells course and edged out the alumni, winning the meet 27 to 31.

Lexie Tremble (Sr – Muskego, WI) won the meet, finishing 1st with a time of 18:49 and a new personal record (PR). The first alumni finisher was Molly Woodford, who placed 2nd with a time of 18:58.

The next Blugold to finish was Emma Drangstveit, (Jr. - Lakeville, MN/North) who placed 5th with a time of 19:17. Behind Drangstveit was Hannah Lamack (Jr. Kewaunee, WI) who placed 6th and ran a pr of 19:21.

The next runner to cross the line for the Blugolds was Lizzy Cisewski (Jr. - Stevens Point, WI/Pacelli). Cisewski finished 7th with a time of 19:24. She was followed by teammate Kylie Judd (Fr. – Anchorage, AK/AJ Dimond) who ran a 20:03 and placed 8th.

The women focused on pack running at the meet and working with their training groups. The weather was slightly overcast and proved to be great racing conditions.

Several other athletes also ran 5k personal records at the meet including: Ashley Kachurik 20:22 (Fr. – Wadsworth, IL/Warren Touwnship), Julia Karls 20:52 (Fr. - St. Cloud, MN/Apollo), Laura Pedelty 20:52 (Fr. – Chatfield, MN/Stewartville), Anna Schueth 20:59 (Fr. – Hartland, WI/Arrowhead), Audrey Severson (Fr. – Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) and Hannah Schierenbeck 21:45 (Fr. – Warrensburg, MO).

The Blugolds' next race will be Saturday, September 21 at the St. Olaf Invite in Northfield, MN.
