No. 18 Blugolds fall to Northwestern-St. Paul

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The No. 18 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire volleyball team fell at home Saturday night as the University of Northwestern-St. Paul Eagles took home a 3-1 win.

After winning the first set 25-18, Northwestern took an early lead in the second. Eau Claire would then go on a run, scoring 11 of the next 12 points to take a 12-3 advantage. The Eagles later rattled off five straight points to cut the Blugold lead to 20-16, but the home squad would hold on for the 25-21 win.

The Eagles would not be denied, however, as they would come back for a 25-17 victory in set three and a 25-19 win in set four to take the match.

Arianna Barrett (So.-Lakeville, MN/North) tallied a match-high 17 kills on 35 attempts to finish the night hitting .314 and also chipped in a team-high 12 digs and two blocks. Leah Witzel (Jr.-Woodbury, MN/East Ridge) and Abbey Pederson (So.-Canby, MN) also dished out 22 and 16 assists, respectively.
