Wudi named AVCA National Coach of the Year

LEXINGTON, Kentucky (blugolds.com) – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has announced that University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire volleyball coach Kim Wudi is the 2018 USMC/AVCA Division III National Coach of the Year.

Wudi will be honored at the Jostens Coaches Honors Luncheon on December 14th in conjunction with the AVCA Convention in Minneapolis, Minn.

Wudi also earned WIAC Coach the Year and AVCA Regional Coach of the Year honors earlier this season. The UW-Eau Claire alum coached the Blugolds to a WIAC regular season and tournament championship and went 3-0 in the NCAA regional including a 3-1 win over defending National Champion, Claremont-Mudd-Scripts. In the following game, Eau Claire took down the College of Saint Benedict by a score of 3-1 to clinch a spot in the NCAA Elite 8.

In her 12th season, Wudi led the Blugolds to a perfect 7-0 record in conference play, a first in program history. With a current record of 32-3, Eau Claire is ranked fourth in match win-loss percentage in the country (.914) and is third in the country in assists per set (13.01), fourth in kills per set (13.82), and 12th in hitting percentage (.245).
