Blugolds sweep at Carroll Triangular, extend winning streak to 11

WAUKESHA, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The 17th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire volleyball team swept a non-conference triangular at Carroll University Saturday afternoon.

In their opening match, the Blugolds topped Concordia University (WI) in three straight sets (25-23, 25-18, 25-22). The Blugolds used a balanced offensive attack, with four players recording at least six kills, to outhit the Falcons .226 to .143. Madelyn Pashibin (Sr.- Minneapolis, MN/Southwest) led the Blugolds with fifteen kills, followed by Makenzie Bachmann (So. – Chaska, MN) with seven.  Taylor Scalia (So. – Lake Elmo, MN/Stillwater) led the way defensively with 16 digs. Madison Surprise (Sr. - Appleton, WI/Kimberly) recorded 12 digs and led the Blugolds with 31 assists.

In their second match of the day, the Blugolds once again won in three sets (26-24, 25-23, 25-22), this time over host Carroll University. Pashibin recorded an additional 15 kills as the Blugolds hit .257 to the Pioneers' .204. Abby Volk (Fr. – Willmar, MN/Willmar) added nine kills. Scalia led Eau Claire in digs with 14, and Surprise recorded 31 assists to lead the Blugolds.

The pair of victories extends the Blugolds' winning streak to 11 matches. The Blugolds have also not dropped a set since September 14th and have won 22 straight.
