Five Blugolds Receive All-WIAC Volleyball Recognition

MADISON, Wis. (blugolds.com) - On Thursday, the 2017 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women's Volleyball Team was announced, and five Blugolds received recognition for their efforts this season.

Named All-WIAC were Madelyn Pashibin (Jr.-Minneapolis, MN/Minneapolis Southwest) and Madison Surprise (Jr.-Appleton, WI/Kimberly). Pashibin dominated at the net this season and took over the role as Surprise's go-to hitter. The Minneapolis native led the conference in hitting efficiency (.315), while finishing second in kills per set (3.83) and points per set (4.08). Her 379 kills led the Blugolds and finished third in the WIAC.

Surprise ended the regular season with 1040 assists, good for 10.4 per set. Both qualified for the second-best in the WIAC. Her numbers also were team-highs for Eau Claire. Surprise finished second on the team with digs, tallying 236 on the year.

Claiming All-WIAC Honorable Mention honors was Jessica Coyne (Jr.-Verona, WI). The junior was only bested by Pashibin on the Blugolds in kills and kills per set. She finished with 293 putaways and a 2.9 kills per set mark. Her 3.07 points per set landed a spot in the top-15 of the conference.

For a third-straight season, Talia Jaskulske (Sr.-Maplewood, MN/North St. Paul) was named to the WIAC All-Defensive Team. She finished in the top-10 in the conference with 441 digs. The senior's 5.07 digs per set was third in the WIAC.

Being named to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team was Emily Miller (Sr.-Prior Lake, MN). She finished third in kills on the team with 160 and in the top-five with 1.67 kills per set. Miller also had the second-most amount of total blocks with 40 for the Blugolds.

Eau Claire finished the regular season with a record of 17-10 and 6-1 in the WIAC, good for a second place finish in the conference.
